General Questions

The short answer is yes, not everyone walks into a pole dancing class blessed with upper body and core strength, but we can help you develop the strength you need over time.

Pole dancing is fantastic for building strength in your whole so that you will become stronger with practice. The more you practice, the faster you will gain an advantage.

Everybody learns at their own pace and comes to class with a different background. Don’t pressure yourself! It might take a while before you feel like you know what you are doing, and we will practice and repeat until you feel comfortable with a move or routine.
However, no matter how advanced your level, there will always be a new trick or move to learn that might make you feel like you “don’t know what you are doing” – and this is completely normal for all of us poledancers!

Clothing & Footwear Questions

Normal workout wear is excellent, a tank top and above knee-length shorts are recommended. Note you will be gripping the pole with your inner thighs, so it’s best to wear what’s comfortable while allowing your skin to be in direct contact with the pole to prevent slippage.

We suggest wearing comfortable fitness attire, such as a pair of shorts or leggings, and a t-shirt or tank top. If you plan on coming regularly and want to advance your skills on the pole, please wear shorts. For your footwear, you can wear a flexible running shoe, socks, or bare feet. Yes, you can wear your heels!

While you can get through most if not all workouts without much need for accessories a towel does come in handy when working up a sweat after the sessions.

Depending on any issues you may have with your hand, wrist, ankle or heel you may need to bring along some sort of strapping or gaurd to offer your joints a little added support.

When it comes to footwear, you can do a whole pole dancing class barefoot, if you want to or feel more comfortable. if you want to wear 6-inch heels then check with your class instructor first.

You may also want to wear gym shoes for the warm-up if it involves jogging or jumping around if barefoot is not your preference.

We try to minimize the risk of injuries as much as possible – starting with a thorough warm up at the beginning of class, including conditioning and making sure our students are well prepared as well as physically ready to attempt a move.
However, as in any other sport and dance, a chance of getting injured can never be excluded.
